CECAFA Kagame Cup: Musonye promises success after securing funds

After failing to host the tournament for two consecutive editions, CECAFA secretary general NBicholas Musonye has promised a successful event.

This year’s edition will be held from Thursday 28th June to Thursday 12th July in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

Musonye noted that the regional association had failed to organize previous competitions because of lack of funds but assured that everything is in place this year.

 “We are doing it this year,” he assured adding that “The problem is usually the funds and this time we have secured the money in good time so there will be no disappointments. The games will go on as planned.”

The tournament will be funded by FUFA grants and Azam TV, the broadcasting sponsors. The money will cater for all the expenses including team's air tickets and accormodation.

Tanzania's Azam are the tournament's defending champions.

2018 Cecafa Kagame cup groups;

Group A: Azam FC (Tanzania), Vipers SC (Uganda), JKU (Zanzibar), Kator FC (South Sudan)

Group B: Rayon Sport (Rwanda), Gor Mahia (Kenya), Lydia Ludic (Burundi), Ports (Djibouti)

Group C: Yanga (Tanzania), Simba (Tanzania), St. George (Ethiopia), Dakadaha (Somalia)
