Breaking: Morocco eliminated from World Cup

20 Jun 2018, 17:00

Morocco is the first team to be eliminated from the 2018 FIFA World Cup following a 0-1 defeat to Portugal.

The Lions of the Atlas suffered two consecutive 0-1 defeats in the ongoing World Cup in Russia to Iran and Portugal. Cristiano Ronaldo's first-half strike was enough to claim first win for Portugal, dumping Morocco out of the tournament. He took just four minutes to net his fourth of the tournament which proved enough to virtually confirm his side's passage to the last 16.

Morocco might have been labeled as one of the pre-tournament dark horses, the sort of side who will do better than many expect, but leaving Ronaldo unmarked at the very first corner is schoolboy defending which saw them punished. They will play their final game, of no importance against Spain on Monday 25th.
