Barcelona star desperate to leave in January

Rafinha Alcantara is desperate to leave Barcelona in January, his father Mazinho has revealed.

The Brazilian will seek to leave the Catalans having just started four games under boss Ernesto Valverde this season. Rafinha spent the second half of last season on loan at InterMilan. That has led to the midfielder, brother of Bayern Munich star Thiago, looking for a way out when the transfer window reopens.

"It's crazy, he can't understand anything. Only the coach knows what he has or doesn't have. The truth is that we're trying to get Rafa into a situation where he plays regularly," said Mazinho.

"He [Rafinha] has done well in pre-season, he's had some spectacular games. He doesn't understand it. This is football, it's normal, of course, and we have to be happy because we're at a great club. But we need to leave to play more."

"If there are interested clubs, Barca are interested in a transfer and the player's happy, we will work together," he added.

The Brazilian has a contract with the Catalan club until the end of the 2019/2020 season.
