Wafula pens emotional farewell to Gor Mahia, fans
Inocent Wafula has penned an emotional farewell to Kenya Premier League giants, Gor Mahia and their fans just a week after crossing to Vipers.
The left back-cum-winger played his first game for the Ugandan defending champions in a 3-0 midweek win over Onduparaka at their home in Kitende.
The player who parted ways with Gor Mahia in a not-so-good manner has, nevertheless, thanked the club for the four year relationship.
“While it may not have worked out long term I’m very blessed to have played at Gor Mahia FC,” Wafula started.
He continued: “I made many great friends and became as close as family with most thank you for that. Thank you for applauding my effort and passion for the game of football.
“Thank you for acknowledging my love for the green army. It has been a pleasure to have called my workplace [a] home.”
Wafula joined the K’Ogallo in 2015 from fellow Kenya Premier League side Chemilil Sugar and scaled immediately into the first team. He says that those memories will forever last in him as he embarks on a new course in his career.
“As we part ways know that the memories will be carried with me for the rest [of my career]. Knowing and appreciating the fact I had the pleasure of creating heartfelt memories with so many people [for] the past 4years. Thank you again for your heart, thank you for the motivation and excitement. God bless Gor Mahia football club,” he finished.
