Josh Maja pens four-year deal with French Ligue 1 club

French Ligue 1 club Bordeaux are reportedly close to signing Nigerian youngster Josh Maja beating English and German clubs.

According to France Football reports, Bordeaux have reached an agreement with Sunderland to sign Maja on a four-and-a-half year contract.

Further reports add that Tottenham Hotspurs were amongst the team closely assessing his situation at the French club in hopes they would get him on their books.

The 20-year-old was also rumoured to have been on the radar of Scottish Premiership teams Celtic and Rangers as wells as unnamed clubs in the Bundesliga.

However, Maja's future has been under scrutiny after he allegedly refused to extend his contract which is set to expire at the end of the 2018/19 season.

The budding striker has scored 16 goals from a total of 30 appearances across all competitions this season, leading to a scramble for his signature.

Upon joining the French league,  Maja will be linking up with Nigeria international Samuel Kalu at Bordeaux.
