Arsenal boss Unai Emery has reportedly given the club the green light to offload defender Shkodran Mustafi at the end of the season to raise funds for transfers.
The German has failed to live up to expectation since arriving from Valencia in 2016 and according to The Telegraph, the Gunners boss is ready to cut his losses on the 26-year-old at the end of the season.
Mustafi has come under heavy criticism since he arrived at Arsenal with both pundits and fans regularly questioning his defensive abilities.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher named Mustafi as one of two huge weak-links in Arsenal’s backline after Sunday’s 3-1 defeat.
“Stephan Lichtsteiner is not good enough.
“Maybe you could argue that’s because of his age and the fella next to him Shkodran Mustafi has never been good enough since the day he walked through the door and that’s why all the goals came down there.
“To see Arsenal defend like that really, there’s a big job here for Unai Emery to do.”
The North London club reportedly rejected a loan bid from Inter Milan for the former Valencia man.
