Laurent Koscielny suffers injury in BATE Borisov win

Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny limped off during his side's 3-0 win over BATE Borisov in the Europa League second leg round of 32 at the Emirates.

The north London side advanced to the round of 16 after beating Borisov 3-1 on aggregate but the bad news came in 56th minute when Koscielny was forced off with an injury. The Frenchman had missed Arsenal's opening months since rupturing an Achilles during Europa League match against Atletico Madrid in May. However, he had recovered and found his way back to the team, featuring in 13 of Arsenal's previous 16 matches.

Koscielny appeared to be in some discomfort and was taken off in the second half with Sokratis Papastathopoulos taking his place. Once seated on the bench, Koscielny was soon strapped up with ice which appeared to cover his calf. The Gunners are already without Rob Holding, Hector Bellerin and Danny Welbeck who are long term absentees. Speaking after the match, Unai Emery seemed less worried with Koscielny's injury as he termed his substitution as a precaution.

"I think it’s a precaution. We are going to wait until tomorrow. I hope he is OK for Sunday. It’s muscular. He started to feel not good," said Emery.

Mustafi on Koscielny

"I hope its nothing serious but he had a smile on his face when he came off."
