Emery on Ozil returning to Arsenal's starting XI

Unai Emery opened up on recalling Mesut Ozil back to Arsenal starting XI in BATE Borisov's 3-0 win on Thursday night.

The Arsenal boss is confident the former German international will repay his faith as he played part in helping the Gunners advance to the next stage. After suffering a shock 1-0 defeat in Belarus the Gunners had only one business, to overcome the deficit in their own turf and early pressing worked for them. An own goal from Zakhar Volkov saw the Gunners draw level on aggregate before Shkodran Mustafi added the second to put his side in total control. Sokratis, who came in in the second half netted the third and that was enough as Arsenal beat Borisov 3-1 on aggregate to book a place in the last 16.

"He’s going to play today and I’m sure he’ll play a good match. We need every player, we need to build up, we need to progress with the combination," said Emery when asked about his decision to start Ozil.

"And then in the attacking third, we need in the small spaces also need one to one, one two, we need to make behind and get in the box, be efficient with the crosses and also with the head and the foot. We need every player," he added.
