BREAKING: Costa handed eight match ban

Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa has been handed an eight-match ban following his crude remarks about the referee’s mother during Atletico’s 2-0 loss to Barcelona.

The former Chelsea man saw red last weekend for comments made to referee Gil Manzano about his mother. The season seems over for the Spaniard as he will sit out four games due to his insults to the referee and has also been given a further four for grabbing his arm. Costa believed that he was fouled in the 28th minute, and he soon made his feelings completely clear towards the referee. However, the 30-year-old Atlético striker ended up marching down the tunnel after he was shown a straight red from Manzano.

Costa has also been fined almost £5200 for his conduct while the RFEF have also come down hard on Atletico.

They need to give Diego Costa his own section on Duolingo, I’ve already upped my Spanish knowledge 200% since he got red carded on Sunday pic.twitter.com/Ckj1zijK4n
