Allan Wanga chasing Golden Boot after 12 years with Kasumba and Enosh hot on his heels
After netting 15 goals this season, Kakamega Homeboyz forward Allan Wanga is seeking his second Golden Boot gong after his exploits back in 2007 but Sofapaka's Umaru Kasumba and Ulinzi Stars' Enosh Ochieng' are hot on his heels with 12 goals each.
In his maiden KPL season back in 2007 with Tusker FC, Allan Wanga bagged the top scorer's award after netting 23 goals helping the Brewers to the league title but joined Angolan side Atletico Petroleos de Luanda the following year. Wanga has been bang on form this season netting 15 goals in 25 games including in the last three consecutive games against Mount Kenya United, Gor Mahia, and Vihiga United. The former AFC Leopards forward is clearly staking a claim to be on the Harambee Stars squad for the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
Ochieng has been responsible for more than half of Ulinzi Stars' goals this season, with the team heavily dependent on him for goals upfront. The forward is also in red hot form netting three goals in the last two games including against Gor Mahia in the 1-1 draw. Having bagged 12 goals so far the season, Ochieng' is just three goals shy of Wanga who leads the scorer's charts.
A June transfer window signing from Ugandan side SC Villa back in 2017, the forward took the Kenyan Premier League by a storm netting 13 goals in half a season. Kasumba, however, failed to replicate his form in the 2018 season as he netted a dismal five goals the entire season. The 2018-2019 season has however been a successful season for him so far netting 12 goals and is on the running for the Golden Boot.
