Unai Emery's promise to Arsenal fans ahead of Wolves clash

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has asked the club's fans to stick behind the players, as they prepare for crucial fixtures starting with Wednesday's match away to Wolves

The players were heavily criticised after Sunday's 3-2 home defeat to Crystal Palace, which dented their hopes of finishing in the top-four bracket.

The coach has now called on the fans to stay behind the team, further defending Shkodran Mustafi, who has been faulted after Palace's loss.

“I say to our supporters, 'Help our players.' Because I want every player to have big confidence,” he said as quoted by the club's website.

“I know there are reactions, and the first reaction is strong. First, when we win they are telling us we are the best, we have a record, we have a possibility to be third in the table - that is good,"

“I am going to protect the players and help the players. And all the supporters who love Arsenal, I prefer them to do that,

The Gunners will have the chance to pick themselves up when they travel to face Wolves, knowing a win will take them to third, above  London rivals Tottenham.

The race for a top-four finish is heated, with Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United all having the chance of qualifying for the Champions League, with only three matches left.
