Asamoah Gyan on leaving Sunderland prematurely

Kayserispor forward Asamoah Gyan has finally spoken about the time he spent playing for Sunderland and the reason that led to his departure.

Gyan was signed to Sunderland from Rennes in 2010, and thereafter he rapidly became a hit in the Premier League after scoring unforgettable goals but to the fans surprise, he left two years later to Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates.

However, while openly admitted that he may have left the English club abruptly, the Ghana international spoke highly of the supporters during his time and added that he loved his time in England.

“I enjoyed every single minute there. It’s one of my proudest moments in life to have played at such a great club in such a unique football country. Sometimes I feel that I left early but maybe that’s what fate had in store for me,” he told FourFourTwo.

“The fans were unbelievable through thick and thin. Day and night, they’d travel to see us play. Man, it was something else.”
