Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde says his side were "rolled over" and "blown away" by Liverpool in Tuesday night's historic 4-0 defeat in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final at Anfield.
Two goals each from Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum were enough as the Reds recorded one of the greatest ever comebacks in the Champions League.
"They have been really strong, they played really well and they kind of us rolled us over, really," Valverde told Sky Sports after the match.
"It is a terrible result for our fans and for ourselves but credit is due to Liverpool.
"You're going to suffer, the fans will suffer as well. That's what it is like. We didn't expect a situation like this.
"You have to go through this penitence and we've not got long to go until the end of the league season.
"We've got the cup still to fight for and we've got to really finish the season well on a high after this.
"But at the moment we're blown away, it's terrible."
Last season, the Catalans suffered an almost identical fate when they were beaten 3-0 by Roma after winning the first-leg 4-1 at home.
