European giants battle for Sanchez's signature as he nears United exit

Alexis Sanchez's nightmare at Manchester United might be coming to an end soon, with reports indicating that he is set on leaving the club.

Italy seems his likely destination, with news indicating that Serie A giants Juventus and Inter Milan are fighting for the Chilean international's signature.

The former Arsenal star has failed to live up to expectations and hit the level that he was while with the Gunners, and United are understood to have made the decision to cut their losses.

He is the club's top earner, taking home  £500,000 a week and a further £75,000 for every goal he scores. He also takes home an extra £25,000 for each assist he creates.

His financial demands though are blocking any transfer talks, with the two Italian clubs understood to be willing to negotiate if he lowers his demands, or United agree to subsidise his wages.

The 30-year-old has endured a torrid time at United, which was further compounded by a series of niggling injuries, which saw him miss a huge chunk of the team's matches.

It will be a busy summer for the Manchester club, with many key players including Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku said to be wanting out.
