Liverpool handed a major injury boost ahead of Champions League final

After playing with an injury in the win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has revealed that a break before the UEFA Champions League final will give him enough time to recover from his injury.

The Scottish defender suffered a painful calf problem in the Champions League semi final's second leg at Anfield, when a nasty off-the-ball kick by Luis Suarez forced him to be subbed at half-time. Robertson, however, was included in the starting line up that beat Wolves 2-0 in the final game of the season but was subbed off in the 84th minute for Joe Gomez.

In an interview with the club's official portal, Robertson provided an injury update on his calf, "It wasn’t the best on Sunday and I could feel it during the game, but I wanted to play and was desperate to get out there. The adrenaline kept me going and the fact a lot of us have played through pain, not just me. Luckily now we’ve got a couple of weeks to recover and get our bodies right – and we’ll know we’ll be as fresh as we can be going into the final."
