Ruben Loftus-Cheek could be out of action for up to a year after rupturing his Achilles’ during Chelsea's 3-0 friendly win over New England Revolution on Wednesday night.

The midfielder came on as a half-time substitute in the 'Final Whistle on Hate' charity game against the MLS outfit but had to be substituted in the 68th minute after a heavy challenge from an opposing player.

The England international was later seen leaving the stadium in crutches and a protective boot and according to The Sun,  he faces a minimum six months on the sidelines, with a ruptured Achilles potentially keeping him out for a whole year.

This means Loftus-Cheek will miss the Europa League final, this summer’s Nations League finals, and the start of next season.
