Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says his side will not try to hijack Barcelona’s pursuit of Atletico Madrid Antoine Griezmann.
The Frenchman told Madrid that he will be leaving in the summer but did not mention the club he will be joining. However, Spanish giants Barcelona have been tipped the possible destination for the World Cup winner. Reports emerged on Friday that City were in the running for the 28-year-old, but Guardiola said City could not afford a move for the forward.
"People of Barcelona, don’t worry guys, we are not going to buy Griezmann, we cannot afford it," the City manager said.
"The people at Barcelona don’t need to worry, we are not interested,” he added.
As reported by Sky Sports, Barca will have to pay a release clause of £108m to land the forward.
