What next for Hassan Oktay after winning the league?

Gor Mahia have once again demonstrated their strength in local football after successfully defending their Kenya Premier League title on Wednesday afternoon.

Their 1-1 draw against Vihiga United coupled with Bandari's inability to beat Mathare meant the defending champions successfully defended their crown, much to the jubilation of their fans.

It is even more special for K'Ogalo, who will have the privilege of keeping the trophy for good, having won it on three consecutive seasons.

Winning for the third time in a row clearly shows that Gor are a class above the rest in the country, hence the need for a stiffer challenge.

Coach Hassan Oktay has picked from where his predecessor Briton Dylan Kerr left and helped them taste local glory.

The team has done fairly well in continental football in recent seasons but will need to be even better in the coming season if they are to return to the good old days.

Oktay knows very well that he needs his team to fully concentrate on the CAF confederations tournament, and reiterated that after their match against Vihiga on Wednesday.

"We need to concentrate on Champions League qualifier games as a team. We need to concentrate as a team, as a unit and I think we can start from there," he said.

He will, however, be pleased that they made a genuine challenge this campaign, only falling to Moroccan side RS Berkane in the quarterfinals.

With a team that is playing beautiful football, Oktay has a side that can conquer Africa once again.
