Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri says Ruben Loftus-Cheek could make a return to training in five months.

The England midfielder suffered a horrific injury in a friendly with New England Revolution last week and it was feared he could be out for up to 12 months.

“I don’t know the timing because it’s very difficult to say but four months, five months,” Sarri told the club's official website Chelsea.com

“Probably he will be able to train with the group after five months but then he needs to be able to play at 100 per cent and that’s different.

“I am sure he will return stronger and become one of the best midfielders in Europe.”

The 23-year-old underwent surgery on the ruptured left Achilles tendon.
