After withdrawing from the Swedish national team for their upcoming friendlies against Malta and Spain, Victor Lindelof has revealed that he wants to fully recover from his persistent groin injuries.

The Manchester United defender withdrew from the squad on Thursday after an injury plagued the end of his domestic campaign. Lindelof has not featured for Sweden since last November, missing a total of five games including the last international break back in March. The Swedish defender improved in the concluded season after a shaky start to life in his first English Premier League season.

Lindelof revealed that he was gutted to miss the upcoming games but he looks to overcome his injuries, "All players want to play the big matches and represent their country. My focus is to be free of injury as soon as possible. I wish the guys and [manager] Janne [Andersson] great luck in the matches and look forward to being involved and helping the team in qualifying this autumn."
