Allan Wanga releases statement after Harambee Stars snub

Kakamega Homeboyz striker Alla Wanga has released a statement after he was omitted from the Harambee Stars squad that will represent the country in the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

Wanga who is currently the reigning Kenyan Premier League top goalscorer with 18 goals was among those chopped from the team that has already left for France by coach Sebastien Migne.

According to the striker, he was humbled by the backing he has received from the fans since the news broke and despite the omission, saying he did his best in impressing Migne who he said had his reasons for omitting him out.

Despite the setback, Wanga promised, in the statement released on his social media feeds, that he will continue to work hard and wished the team the best of luck in Egypt.

Statement in Full

"I have received overwhelming phone calls and messages from friends, family and fans from all over. It is so humbling and encouraging at the same time. It is every player's dream to represent their National team at whatever level and I believe I did my best and worked even harder to try and impress the coach but he had his reasons.

"I will keep working even harder because I am not the type to give up. I have trained and played with the selected players and want to wish them all the best as they try to conquer Africa. Thank you all for your tremendous support."
