Darren Burgess is set to real his role at Arsenal as the director of high performance after two years with the north London side.

According to reports, Burgess was sacked days after Arsenal lost  4-1 to Chelsea in the Europa League finals. Shad Forsythe, the head of performance who was set to join AC Milan will now remain with the Gunners and be elevated to a more senior role. Former chief executive Ivan Gazidis left his role at the club to join Italian side AC Milan in September.

The 45-year-old returned from Australian Rules football with Port Adelaide as Arsenal planned for life after the previous manager of 22 years Arsene Wenger.
