After spending a season at Arsenal since his transfer from Sampdoria last summer, Lucas Torreira has revealed that he has had trouble with language and adapting to English weather.
The Uruguay international joined the Gunners in a £23million deal from Sampdoria last summer and impressed during his debut campaign at the Emirates. Milan are believed to be close to appointing Marco Giampaolo as a replacement for Genaro Gattuso and the Sampdoria boss is believed to be keen on a reunion with Torreira.
Torreira opened up on the difficulties he has faced at Arsenal since making the switch last summer, "I don’t know if there’s a lot of things that I’m enjoying because I think I liked living in Italy more. London is a completely different world. England is a very big country. I had trouble with the language, communicating with my teammates and with the people.
"It’s pretty rough in certain moments when you can’t have the dialogue, that’s the most important part. The weather is also difficult. You go out in the morning and it’s cloudy and you get back after training and it’s still cloudy. I miss the sun. Mostly us South Americans are used to having sunny days. But I think I’ll get used to it as the years go by."
