Arsenal are in contention to step up their quest to sign Torino defender Armando Izzo for a fee of approximately £22million.
Izzo is garnering interest from the Gunners and their Premier League rivals Everton after what has been deemed an impressive season in Italy.
The 27-year-old centre-back who initially joined Torino from Genoa in the summer of 2018 managed to make 37 appearances as the side went on to secure seventh on the Serie A table.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery is believed to be a huge fan of Izzo, having watched his progress in Italy, and is prepared to use more than half of his £40million summer budget to bring the defender to the Emirates.
However, despite the increasing interest from the English sides, Torino believe that Izzo will remain at the club in the summer and are looking to hold talks with him regarding his current which expires in 2022.
The Italy international is reportedly unbothered by the transfer links and is said to be happy at Torino.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, he said: "For now I’m happy. Everyone likes to be courted.
"I have years left on my contract at Torino, and I want to show my worth. I don’t like just being called a good player. I’m worth more.
"Among Italian defenders, other than [Giorgio] Chiellini, I don’t see others stronger or more determined than I am.
"I’m honoured to wear Torino’s shirt and I will spill blood until the last day I wear it."
The defender further added that he would rather focus on becoming an integral part of the Italy national team set-up, with one eye on the 2020 European Championship next summer.
He added: "It’s my one big objective - I’d like to be a leading light in it after having had another great season
"The European Championship would be the culmination of a dream."
