Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel, has joined compatriots Ogenyi Onazi and Anthony Nwakaeme at Turkish club Trabzonspor on a two-year deal.
The former Chelsea midfielder also has an option of additional one year at the expiration of the two-year deal.
Trabzonspor announced the signing, even as the player is in Nigeria's camp at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations where he featured in Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Madagascar.
“A two-year and an additional year agreement was signed with the free captain of the Nigerian national team, John Obi Mikel, to transfer to our club,” the club announced.
Trabzonspor are in contention for Europa league qualification as they are currently placed fourth on the log.
