Sadio Mane reveals his frustrations about AFCON ahead of finals

Senegal and Liverpool star Sadio Mane has sparked an online debate over the 'value' of the Africa Cup of Nations in the world footballing calendar, suggesting it's considered lesser compared to the Euros or even the Copa America.

The mercurial forward has led his Senegal national team to the finals of the tournament in Egypt, and there is talk about him being considered for the Ballon d'Or after a near-perfect year.

He, however, seems unhappy with how the continental showpiece is regarded, compared to other football tournaments.

"I think it's not normal that the AFCON is not considered in the same way as the Copa America or the Euro's. It's a cry of heart that we all have to do. It's a real shame. With all due respect, it must stop,"

Mane was prolific through the season for Liverpool, winning the Premier League Golden Boot alongside Emerick Aubameyang and Salah, and led the Reds to lift the Champions League title.

He is currently the second-highest scorer at the ongoing AFCON tournament in Egypt, where he might lead his side to glory.
