Kawasaki Frontale gave Chelsea their first defeat in the preseason tour after Leandro Damiao scored deep into the second half to give them a 1-0 win.
This was also Frank Lampard's first defeat since his return to the club, having won one, against St. Patrick and drew 1-1 against Bohemians in the first two matches.
Both teams attacked both sides of the goal and seemed evenly matched, but it was the home side that grabbed the loan goal and give them a famous win.
Lampard started with a strong side consisting of first-team members, including captain Cezar Azpilcueta, David Luiz, Jorginho and Pedro.
Next up for the Blues will be Barcelona in Saitama on Tuesday with Lampard’s first Premier League game in charge coming against Manchester United on August 11.
