Sofapaka FC striker Umaru Kasumba is on the verge of joining Zambia Super League giants Zesco United according to reports coming from Zambia.
Kasumba has been a consistent player in the Sofapaka team since joining them in 2017 and was the third-best scorer in the 2018/19 Kenyan Premier League season.
His prowess in front of goal saw him land a trial with an unnamed Germany side earlier in the year and his departure is said to have been instigated by the financial struggles of his side.
Kasumba has been a free agent since the expiry of his contract with Sofapaka in June and apart from Zesco, the player had been linked with a move to KPL giants Gor Mahia who are still out to look for a replacement of the departed Jacques Tuyisenge.
Kasumba joined Sofapaka in June 2017 from Ugandan side SC Villa and still harbors the ambitions of representing the Uganda Cranes if his past interviews are anything to go by.
A move to Zesco should present him with a chance to show what he can do continentally in the CAF Champions League but for that to happen, he will have to dislodge Kenya striker Jesse Were who is the preferred first choice for the club.
