Nigerian striker Dominic Solanke is all set and ready to start banging in goals for Bournemouth when the new English Premier League kicks off.
Solanke joined Bournemouth in January from Liverpool and was handed jersey number 29.
But the 21-year-old has been handed jersey number 9 for the new season, and he hopes to be motivated with the new kit.
“Having been a striker all my life, my favourite number is the number nine,” he said on the club’s website.
“Growing up, watching great players like R9 (Ronaldo), Ibrahimovic and Benzema to name a few, you always saw top players in that number so I’m delighted to get it.”
After getting a full pre-season under his belt with Bournemouth, Solanke says he is ready to hit the ground running when Howe’s side kick off their new season with a home game against Sheffield United on August 10.
“I’m really looking forward to the start of the season, I arrived midway through last season so it’s a fresh start for myself and everyone else in the squad.
“With the new number, hopefully I can score goals and make an impact, we’re looking forward to that first game.”
