'He's not for sale' - Manchester United warned off Longstaff

Manchester United have been warned off 21-year-old Newcastle star Sean Longstaff.

The youngster has been one of the main targets of United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has been keen on adding the talented winger.

Manager Steve Bruce has however insisted that the bright talent is going nowhere, reiterating owner Mike Ashley's initial stand.

"You never want to lose your best young players, and I think we’ve made it pretty evident that we won’t," Bruce told reporters following his side's pre-season clash with Preston North End on Saturday.

"We’re concentrating on Sean now, getting his knee right. It’s his 10th or 11th training session since he hurt his knee.

"I’ll just repeat what the owner [Mike Ashley] said – he’s not for sale

Longstaff emerged as one of the key players for the Magpies after breaking into the senior team, and even though an injury in March curtailed his progress, he showed enough potential to guarantee a move.

Solskjaer has shown his willingness to recruit young talents at Old Trafford and showed that with the signing of Daniel James from Swansea and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace last month.
