Sport Witness reported that Burnley had initially made a rather last-minute move to snatch Crystal Palace signing Victor Camarasa.
Diario de Sevilla then revealed that Palace had secured a deal for Camarasa that would see him join Selhurst Park on loan with an option of a permanent deal thereafter.
Palace were reportedly sure that the move was in contention to be finalised and that the Spanish midfielder would be on his way to London to agree on personal terms.
However, in a turn of events, Burnley have made a move for the Real Betis player and that puts a halt to the 25-year-old's possible move to Palace.
According to Sport Witness, Camarasa will be the one to make the final decision on where he goes as Diario de Sevilla further reported that Betis are prepared to let him leave if a good offer reaches their table.
However, Burnley and Palace are two clubs who have some similarities and are keen on bolstering their squads ahead of the 2019/20 season - it is yet to be seen where the Spanish player will end up.
