It was a mixed feeling for Nigerian striker Chikeluba Ofoedu after his Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv suffered a 2-1 defeat to Suduva of Lithuania in a UEFA Europa League third round qualifier.
Ofoedu scored the only goal for his side, but a defeat means they must do a come back in the return leg.
“Certainly not the result we wanted losing 2-1 at home to Suduva of Lithuania,” Ofoedu said.
“I scored our only goal, but sad it was not enough to save the day.
“All hopes not lost though as we will fight to the finish in the return leg on Thursday.”
The pacy attacker was injured during the first leg UCL defeat to CFR Cluj and went on to miss the second leg as they were sent packing from the Champions League.
