After losing 5-4 on penalties against Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard revealed that Jorginho and Emerson had man of the match performances.
The two played in the 4-0 defeat to Manchester United with Emerson completing the full 90 minutes as Jorginho made way for N'golo Kante late in the second half. The duo completed the Super Cup clash against Liverpool with Jorginho scoring a penalty in the 101st minute to level the score at 2-2.
Speaking in a press conference after the game, Lampard was asked his man of the match, "One of my players, obviously. But it is a difficult one. I loved the performance of Jorginho and Emerson, I thought they were both fantastic. When you think of the 120 minutes for two players that played on Sunday evening.
"Liverpool were fresher than us. I thought they were leaders in the team. I liked the performance of all of my players. Not one player was below par today. Everybody gave everything. Subs gave an impact. So all good."
