After saving a spot-kick in the UEFA Super Cup win over Chelsea, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has rained praise down on Adrian hailing his impact in the dressing room.
Adrain was making his full Liverpool debut after first-choice goalkeeper Alisson sustained an injury in the league opener against Norwich City. The Spaniard conceded a penalty after downing Chelsea substitute Tammy Abraham in extra time to allow Jorginho to earn Chelsea a 2-2 draw but stepped up to save Tammy Abraham's penalty to win it for Liverpool.
Speaking in a press conference after the win over Chelsea, Klopp lauded Adrian, "What a story! Adrian! Like Rocky, after he lost against Apollo Creed. A great, wonderful story. He kept his nerves together. He’s really loud in the dressing room already. He’s Spanish; the emotions come through. It’s all good. It’s so nice for him.
"I don’t think he’s won a lot in his life so it’s so nice to win this really big one and be an important part in that game as well. Not only in the penalties but there were unbelievable saves by both goalkeepers as well, by the way."
