Chelsea boss Frank Lampard rated Christian Pulisic’s full debut against Liverpool in the Super Cup defeat on Wednesday night.
Pulisic was outstanding as Chelsea lost to Liverpool on penalties and Lampard believes the youngster is only going to get better. The 20-year-old had a brilliant performance as he provided the perfect assist for Olivier Giroud’s opener with minutes later seeing his goal disallowed for offside. He was taken off in the 74th minute, with Mason Mount coming in for his place. Lampard admitted he was pleased with the winger’s performance adding there is a lot more to come.
“Yeah, I was pleased. And I think there’s a lot more to come because the expectancy is right, he’s a big signing for us,” he said after the match.
“But we must also remember his age. He’s 20. He’s coming into the Premier League, into this game, Liverpool are one of the most intense teams to play in world football. So I think it took him a bit of time early in the game to get his feeling, but once he did you could see his confidence with carrying the ball and the things he can create.”
“So I’m really happy with him and I think there’s lots, lots more to come, all good signs again for what he can be for the club.”
