Bundesliga club Fortuna Düsseldorf were reportedly in stiff competition with Premier League outfit Manchester United to sign Ghanaian youngster Kelvin Ofori as reported by Ghanasoccernet.
Furthermore, Sport Bild reported that Manchester United were in contention to sign Ofori but the Red Devils were to eventually loan him out to a smaller club.
However, Ofori was of the belief that he needed to be in a team that would offer him regular first-team football and also the opportunity to be part of a major European league.
"I think we won the race to sign a very talented player for us. We hope that he will make it as fast as possible in the team," Fortuna Düsseldorf sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel said about Ofori.
Ofori scored in extra-time on his competitive debut last Saturday when his side came from behind to win 3-1 at Villingen in the DFB Pokal Cup.
