Chelsea vs Leicester: Key stats ahead of Stamford showdown

Chelsea will welcome Leicester City at the Stamford Bridge looking for the first point in the new 2019/20 season after the opening match ended in a painful defeat.

The Blues lost 4-0 to rivals Manchester United at the Old Trafford Stadium and will be keen on putting the result behind them when they welcome the former Champions.

The London side had an improved performance against Liverpool in the Uefa Super Cup on Wednesday in Istanbul and will be hoping to register a win before their fans.

Which are the key statistics between the two sides going into the clash?

Chelsea will go into the match boasting a good home record in recent times, having won their opening home league matches in 14 of the last 16 seasons (14 wins, one draw, one defeat).

The only defeat in those 16 seasons came when the then reigning champions lost against Burnley in the 2017/18 season.

Chelsea have also lost only one of their last 22 home league games (13 wins eight draws), with the defeat interestingly coming against Leicester in December 2018.

Lampard's record

In his playing career for the Blues, Frank Lampard played in five matches against Leicester, where he scored three goals and won all the five games he played against them.

Head-to-head record

The Foxes shocked the Blues the last time they visited the Bridge, taking all the three points after a 1-0 win, which was only their second at the grounds against the Blues in 13 meetings in the Premier League.

The last time the Blues won

The Foxes were the only away side to win at Stamford Bridge last season in our 19 league home matches. Leicester’s 1-0 victory was only their second at the Bridge against the Blues in 13 meetings in the competition and their first since September 2000.

The last time Chelsea won at home against Sunday's opponents was in 2016, with goals from Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and Victor Moses doing the damage in a 3-0 win.

Leicester are looking to win consecutive away league matches against Chelsea for the first time since October 1961.

Last time out

Chelsea suffered a 4-0 defeat in their opening match at the hands of Manchester United, while their opponents were held to a 0-0 draw against Wolves.
