Bandari FC head coach Bernard Mwalala has blamed Gor Mahia keeper David Mapigano for their Kenyan Premier League Super Cup loss on Sunday at the Kenyatta Stadium-Machakos.
Mwalala said they could only feature for 0 minutes in the game with the other 20 minutes spent by Mapigano in his time-wasting antics.
“I think we played 70 out of the 90 minutes. Their keeper went down every time after we had conceded but I can’t complain because my boys did well. For me, it’s just a wave because we have been doing well against Gor Mahia.
“It’s the second time we are losing against them and all I can say that we are going back to look if we can improve on our finishing,” Mwalala said in his post-match briefing.
The coach, however, noted that his charges gave an improved performance compared to their last week CAF Confederation tie against Sudanese side Al Ahly Shendi at MISC Kasaani where they drew blanks.
“I can’t complain because I saw an improvement from our match against El Shendi. We showed our flashes. We were better than Gor Mahia as usual but at the end of the day, it’s about the end results.
“I didn’t know which team I was going to play. But we did our part and you can see that they only had one shot and they damaged us and that’s football,” Mwalala added.
Bandari begins their 2019/20 KPL season with a tie against Mathare United.
