Orlando Pirates midfielder Ben Motshwari has suffered an injury ahead of the Absa Premiership game against AmaZulu tonight.
Pirates have confirmed that Motshwari suffered an ankle knock in last weekend’s 1-0 loss to Highlands Park in the MTN8 quarter final.
“Orlando Pirates technical team has been dealt a blow ahead of their Absa Premiership tie against Amazulu tonight. The Mighty Buccaneers will be without the services of midfielder Ben Motshwari who picked up a knock in the loss to Highlands Park this past weekend,” announced Pirates on their website.
The club further revealed that the 28-year-old Randfontein-born player took an ankle strain which the medical team will work hard to rehabilitate ahead of Saturday’s CAF Champions League preliminary round qualifier against Zambia’s Green Eagles who lead by a goal from the first leg.
“According to the medical team, Motshwari has strained his knee and will not play any part in the clash against Usuthu. The hardworking midfielder is currently undergoing rehabilitation as the medical team works around the clock to get the 28-year old ready for Bucs’ crucial CAF Champions League clash against Green Eagles this weekend,” added Pirates.
Pirates may look to the likes of Fortune Makaringe, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Xola Mlambo, Linda Mntambo, Brian Hlongwa, Abel Mabaso and Asavela Mbekile to step in alongside Musa Nyatama at AmaZulu tonight at 19:30.
