Chelsea injury news: Loftus-Cheek, Hudson-Odoi, Rudiger ahead of Carrow Road

As the Premier League is set to kick off into the third week of football action, Chelsea will be in contention to collect their first three points of the season when they take on Norwich City at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea haven't had the best start to the campaign under Frank Lampard- first suffering a shocking 4-0 defeat to Manchester United in the season opener followed by a 1-1 statement to Leicester City.

However, despite the lack of points, the Europa League title holders will be looking forward to the return of some of their players who have been out of action due to injury.

Antonio Rudiger

Rudiger update the media via the club's official website about his meniscus injury after the Premier League 2 game against Liverpool on Monday evening (August 19)

"I've been back for almost two weeks with the team and I'm feeling better each day, but of course there is still game fitness missing, which is what I need to get better," the defender told the club's website.

"I know I need to be patient. There's no need to rush anything at the moment because we have a long season to go. You have to go day by day and that is what I'm doing."

Callum Hudson-Odoi

The 18-year-old was dealt with a massive injury blow after he ruptured his Achilles' tendon when he featured for Chelsea against Burnley in April 2019.

However, it seems like he is on the path to recovery as Hudson-Odoi reportedly involved himself in training with the squad in the week but the bad news is that he might only be available for selection after the international break.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Loftus-Cheek was dealt the same blow as Hudson-Odoi when he also ruptured his Achilles' tendon, however, he endured his injury during a post-season friendly in anticipation of the Europa League final.

Reports have revealed that he is finally out of his protective boot on his foot but it is still quite a journey until he has been cleared to play.

PhysioRoom have suggested that Ruben will likely be back in action when Chelsea takes on Watford in November 2019.

Reece James

The 19-year-old had to undergo surgery after he tore the ligaments in his ankle during the Toulon Tournament; however, he is reportedly on his way to full recovery.

In terms of being eligible to play, PhysioRoom have tipped the youngster to be back on Saturday, September 14.
