After bagging a brace in his home debut for Barcelona, Antoine Griezmann has revealed that Lionel Messi inspired his second goal while he borrowed his celebration from basketball great LeBron James.
Having never previously scored at Camp Nou, Griezmann got two goals but this time as a Barcelona player as he equalized Nabil Fekir's goal in the 41st minute and registered his brace five minutes after the resumption of the second half. The 5-1 win meant that Barcelona collected their first points of the season to move out of relegation places.
In an interview with Movistar+, Griezmann revealed inspirations behind his goal and celebration, "I see Leo doing it in training and try to copy him. I like the ritual Lebron does and I tried to copy him. They woke us up with their goal and we played a great game with many chances.
"We really wanted to improve after Bilbao. There is still margin to improve but it is the line to follow. When important people are missing, the team takes a step forward and it has been like that. If I make goals and give assists it is thanks to the team, I can't do it alone."
