The South African Football Association (SAFA) are believed to be targeting a local coach rather than taking the foreign route.
SAFA are edging closer to finally announcing Bafana Bafana’s next head coach after Stuart Baxter resigned from the post on 2 August 2019.
Many followers of the local game threw in four local coaches from the very first day of Baxter’s departure, and those suggestions now seem to be close to what SAFA are looking to decide on.
But who exactly could be South Africa's next coach?
While it is not clear which man is the notable favourite between Gavin Hunt, Pitso Mosimane, Benni McCarthy and Steve Komphela, reports suggest that SAFA will most likely appoint amongst the given four.
“The person who will be appointed as coach of Bafana Bafana will in all likelihood be a South African because they are looking for someone who has extensive knowledge of the South African playing style,” a source inside SAFA told TimesLIVE.
"In the unlikely event that the coach is not a South African‚ he will have to embrace our philosophy‚” added the source.
Will SAFA will deliver on their promise to announce the next coach by this weekend?
