Ahead of the new Kenyan Premier League season, Nicholas Kipkirui has set his sights on the Golden Boot and has expressed his delight after being named in the Harambee Stars provisional squad.
Kipkirui finished as the club's top scorer with nine league goals in his debut season for Gor Mahia after joining from Zoo FC. The forward has already bagged two continental goals in the 5-1 thumping of Burundian champions Aigle Noir in the CAF Champions League Preliminary Round.
Speaking to futaa, Kipkirui shared his season targets ahead of their league opener against Tusker, "My targets are scoring goals, I want to be the top scorer in the KPL and also in the continental games I want to get at least seven goals."
The goal poacher was recently named in the Harambee Stars provisional squad and was honored by the call up, "It motivates me to work even harder because everybody that has been called deserves a chance and the squad also comprises of many players and at the end of the day it is only eleven players who can start so I must work hard to get into the first 11."
Kipkirui expects a tough game against Uganda during the international break, "We must get a result but we know it will not be easy because Uganda is a strong team as you witnessed in the African Cup of Nations."
The clash against Uganda is slated for Sunday 8th September at the MISC Kasarani.
