Matteo Darmian joins Parma on permanent deal

Manchester United have confirmed that defender Matteo Darmian has signed for Italian side Parma in a €1.5m permanent deal.

The full-back joined the Reds from Torino in 2015 and went on to make 92 appearances for the club.

In four years with the club, Matteo scored one goal - a sublime volley against Crystal Palace in 2016, in a 2-0 victory at Old Trafford.

He has moved in search of first-team football, which could not be achieved at United, who boast of a big defensive unit after new arrivals in the current summer transfer window.

The Italian international had played only 13 times for the club since December 2017 and his contract was due to expire in 2020.

He becomes the fourth United player to have left the club for Serie A this month after Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Chris Smalling all made the move to Italy.
