Gor Mahia took Tusker FC in their opening game of the 2019/20 season in a fully packed Moi Stadium-Kisumu on Saturday 31 August.
Before the game which started at 4:15 pm, there was another game between league newbies Ulinzi Stars and hosts Kisumu All-Stars and the gate collections for both games have been revealed.
A total of Ksh 511,650 was picked from the matches with All-Stars walking home with partly Ksh 35, 450; this being 20% of Net Total. Of the total amount collected, Ksh 76, 650 was paid to ADTL this leaving Gor Mahia with Ksh 434, 350.
With match days, come expenses and Gor indicated that 10% (Ksh 51, 100) of the 434, 350 was paid to the Kisumu County Government. Another 10,000 was paid for hiring the ground, Ksh 5000 for County Askaris, Ksh 4000 for brushing the ground; this bringing the total amount paid to the County Government of Kisumu to Ksh 70, 100.
Match Day Expenses
On the Match Day expenses, Gor Mahia paid Ksh 20, 000 to hire an ambulance, Ksh 30, 000 to the Police, Ksh 25, 000 to the stewards, Ksh 8, 000 to hire chairs, Ksh 25, 000 for logistics, Ksh 10, 000 to hire PA System and Announcer, Ksh 30, 000 for players lunch and Ksh 39, 000 to what they say was Kisumu bouncers.
The total expenditure was Ksh 333, 750 with this leaving the Kenyan giants with a total of Ksh 177, 250. With All-Stars taking Ksh 35, 450 from this, the club could only bank Ksh 141, 800 from the game.
