Ex-AFC Leopards midfielder moves to Iraq

Former AFC Leopards midfielder Allan Kateregga has joined Iraqi Premier League side Erbil Sport Club for an undisclosed period.

The "Dancing Rasta" has been a free agent since parting ways on mutual consent with South Africa Premier Soccer League side Cape Town City in July this year and was part of the Uganda Cranes squad that made it to the last 26 of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Kateregga was a key figure for Maritzburg United last season as they escaped relegation; a club he was on loan from parent club Cape Town City.

Native Uganda

In his native Uganda, Kateregga featured for Sports Club Victoria University and KCCA FC with the midfielder featuring for Tusker FC, Ushuru FC and AFC Leopards in the Kenyan scene.

He will be the latest Ugandan to join the Iraqi side after that of defender Ivan Bukenya and winger Sula “Malouda” Matovu who played for the club in 2011-13 and 2012-13 respectively.

Ebril Sports Club was founded 51 years ago and is based in the city of Erbil; they host their home games at the 20,000 seater Franso Hariri Stadium.
