After a turbulent season in the Kenyan Premier League last season that ended in relegation, Mount Kenya United picked their first points of the season with a 2-1 win over visiting Coast Stima in a clash played at the Ruaraka Grounds on Sunday.
Former Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards winger John Ndirangu and Musa Ekai scored the goals for the hosts with ex Chemelil Sugar Joshua Oyoo scoring what proved to be a consolation for the Mombasa based side.
The dent comes a week after Stima had received a walkover over Fortune Sacco in their first match of the season after the opponents failed to turn up for the match.
Nairobi Stima who missed promotion to the KPL last season still tops the pile after recording their second successive win of the season following their 2-1 win over Police FC on Saturday in a clash played at the Karuturi Grounds-Naivasha.
In other results, relegated Vihiga United could only manage one point after being held to a 1-01 draw by visiting FC Talanta.
