Former Ghana Deputy Minister for Gender Rachael Appoh says it is time the GFA elect a female head.

Appoh has said that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has seen enough turmoil that a woman is best suitable to neutralize the association. Women with reputable profiles such as Fatma Samoura could step forward.

"I think it is time for women to challenge the men for the GFA seat because women have the credibility to save the image of the game" Appoh said via Angel FM.

"It has happened at FIFA and other places so Ghana too can take leaf especially as we have many competent sportswomen here".

Appoh when on to caution that the move would invite intimidation. However, females who are passionate about the game should not get discouraged.

"The men are not only people who can run Sports or who love sports. I believe it is time for a woman to come and contest even though they'd be intimidated, they shouldn't shy away from the position".

Meanwhile, all current six candidates are males and will learn their fate at the polls on 27 October.
