Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has jokingly congratulated Liverpool for winning the 2019/20 Premier League title.
City shockingly lost to Norwich over the weekend and according to Guardiola, there was still a long way to go in the league title race with the Spaniard promising that they were going to recover from the loss.
“We’re in September… we’re going to do that? Okay: congratulations, Liverpool, you are the champions. We will recover, go to Ukraine, then we come back. Of course, we’ve dropped five points. Tottenham was a pity because we played very well.
“Against Norwich, it was in the important parts, in set pieces for example, that the players have to know exactly what to do,” Guardiola told reporters.
Attention for City shifts to the Champions League where they are to face Ukraine giants Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.
The Norwich loss coupled with their draw with Spurs earlier in the season see City fall five points below Liverpool who have a 100% record in the league.
City host Watford in their next league fixture with Liverpool travelling to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea.
