After their 3-0 thrashing of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain head coach Thomas Tuchel has revealed that the absence of Kylian Mbappe, Edison Cavani and Neymar may have worked to their advantage.
Cavani and Mbappe were ruled out of the clash with an injury while Neymar who was linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid in the summer was serving a two-match suspension following his foul language in the defeat to Manchester United last season. A brace from Angel Di Maria and Thomas Munier's last gasp goal put the sword to Madrid.
Speaking in a post-match press conference, Tuchel revealed that the trio's absence may have been a blessing in disguise, "Maybe the absence of Cavani, Neymar and Mbappe helped the team. Maybe the pressure was less, because everybody was wondering how we could win without those three players.
"It can help because we weren't favorites without Neymar, Mbappe, and Cavani. It could have taken some of the pressure off the players."
